Foo Fighters - "Learn to Fly", 1000-Person Cover
Back in December, we reported on the 1,000-person band that was being put together in an attempt to lure the Foo Fighters to play in Cesena, Italy. That performance did go off, and now a video of the epic rendition has been released on the group’s official website Rockin1000. Watch the amazing video in the player above.
The video is the brainchild of Fabio Zaffagnini, who simply wants to the Foo Fighters to perform in the Cesena, which is located in the Romagna region of Northern Italy, near the Adriatic Sea. Zaffagnini started the crowd-funding event late last year and raised over 44,000 Euros, the equivalent of over 48,000 U.S. dollars.
The epic clip is shot brilliantly and features artists from all over Italy, who descended on the Italian city of Cesena at their own expense to perform “Learn to Fly.” The clip is destined to go viral and is sure to catch the attention of the band.
While fans in Cesena wait for word from the Foo Fighters camp, they will have a chance to see the band in Italy on Nov. 13 at Unipol Arena in Casalecchio Di Reno and on Nov. 14 in Turin.
Last year there was a successful crowd funded campaign to get the Foo Fighters to play in Richmond, Va. for the first time since 1999. The concert took place on Sept. 17 and the date was declared Foo Fighters Day in the city.
Update: The Foos have responded via Twitter, with a simple message, “Che bello, Cesena” which means, “How beautiful, Cesena!”
Update #2: Dave Grohl has responded, too, with a message suggesting Foo Fighters will indeed play a show in Cesena. It translates to “See you soon, Cesena!”
